Seriously. I'm super proud of the Ultimate Frisbee team's performance last night. I'm beaming. Really. Just beaming.
Sure, we were playing teams that haven't won a single game the past 2 weeks. But it was the means in which we one. It was pedal to the metal all the way. Everyone was playing tight defense, showed great hussle.
It was beautiful to watch and enjoy.

The throws that was going on... HOLY!!!
John bent a pass from out of bounds back in bounds and right into Sunil's hands. Rox shot a rocket through the smallest of windows. Vince launched a moonshot like 50 yards.

The defense was insane too!!!
Our girls are just monster defenders. Blocking pathways to the disc. Smacking down passes. Forcing bad throws. Shoots.

And the catches. Oh the catches.
I swear the ladies prefer to catch on the run rather than having planted feet. Sure there wasn't any of our trademark diving catches from Line 2. But whatever. We got the job done.

Disc in a Box rocks!!!

Officially, 41st place.
Total time. 83 minutes.
I'm not that jazzed with the result.
But then again, I expected it with my rather lack lustre training.

The only good that I can see is that I came first for my heat.
But then again, my heat was filled with the rather aged or overweight competitors. So that kinda dulls that silver lining.

I knew I'd totally suck for the swim. I did.
500m was tough. By the 300m point I just wanted to give up.
By 400m I really thought my arms would fall out of their sockets.
The bike ride was rather smooth. It wasn't my bike. During a squash session, I hung it on the hook of a locker and forgot about it. By the time I realized that I left my hat behind, someone had already occupied the locker.
Today at work during my regular morning "constitutional" I had a choice of any of the 3 stalls. For some odd reason, I selected the stall directly beside the urinals. Normally I like the feeling of the middle stall. It's smaller space feels a little more cozy. More homey.

As I sat and... well y'know. Someone walked into the washroom. So as part of my natural restroom etiquette training I gave the customary cough. Just to let the other person be aware that he wasn't alone.

So I was back to "meditating" when all of a sudden I felt something brush my foot.I looked down and saw the foot of the person using the urinal beside me move away. So I thought, "Was that a mistake? Did that guy rub his foot against mine by accident?"

So dismissing it as a freak accident, I continued with what I was focussed on when all of a sudden

"Amir? Amir? Why don't you answer me?"

So I think to myself. "A buh??? Ok. This is kinda weird. Maybe if I use the passive agressive approach, he'll realize that he's got the wrong guy."

So I remained silent.

"Amir? Amir? What's wrong? Are you giving me the silent treatment? Don't you know what happens to everyone that gives me the silent treatment?"

Hmmm... I have to admit, my curiousity was a bit piqued.
So I remained silent.

"I'm going to eat you!!!"

WTF??? Fearing that this guy was going to peek over the stall. I quickly retorted, but in a deep and rough sounding voice, just to intimdate the guy of course.
"Guy. I'm not Amir."

And suddenly the urinal occupant left.Just zipped up and left the restroom.
And all I could think was...

"Gross. He didn't even wash his hands"

I know I've written it in the past. But I really hate being sick. But then again, who doesn't?

Friday. I came home from soccer practice and my throat felt like sandpaper. But just figuring it was due to my normal cheering/coaching at practice. I dismissed it.

Saturday. Played the early game at the soccerdome. It was kinda nice. When you're the first users of the facility, there isn't really that nasty smell wafting in the air. I guess that presents itself in the afternoon. FYI. We won.
Came home and had completely lost my voice. So I figured it was laryngitis. But as the evening progressed. My nasal passages began to clog up. And the incessant sneezing began.

Sunday.Voice returned. But the pain in joints began. And halfway through the day, the fever's hit, followed by the chills, and then more fevers.

I tried to resist it all weekend. Went to sleep at a reasonable time. Drank plenty of fluids. But it was all for nothing. I got the flu.

So now, I'm just lying in bed. Phoned in sick from work today. Took some extra strength tylenol to numb the pain. And the benylin I had earlier has me coughing out phlegm right and left. And with my faithful laptop closeby, I've got the entertainment factor ironed out.

For instance, I've been doing lots of research on another tattoo possibility. And I think I've found the perfect symbol. It's a variation of THIS Do you know what that symbol means? Perhaps you're too young to comprehend. The symbol was used by THIS GUY
Please tell me that you know who Snake Eyes is.

Anyways, the variation of that symbol I'm going to get is perfect. It's the symbol for the number 27. Which of course is my birthday... duh. And once you see it you'll say... of course. Presenting...
MY NEXT TATTOO

Don't ask me about where I'm putting it though. I'm still undecided. I'm a little weary to put it on my forearm like the Snake eyes and Storm Shadow. So wait and see.

I guess I lied to myself. Damn. So that's how it feels. Kinda feels like wet socks.

145 baby. I weighed in at 145 last night and I was quite happy.

In case you didn't hear. I was challenged by my soccer coach to bulk up 20 pounds in the next couple of months. Apparently, my style of play on the field requires me to be much stronger than I currently am. And some of my deke moves would be much more effective if I had as he said, "A deadlier booty."

And so, (in case you've been totally oblivious) I've been in constant eating mode the past month now. 4 meals a day and protein snacks in between of course. With my soccer season on break till January, I've returned to the Talisman Centre for my 3 hour workouts and training sessions. But it's all been worth it.

10 pounds in 4 weeks. WHOOT!!!

And since it's been an increase in my veggie intake with pasta of course I'm hoping it's not going towards my tummy. Especially since I haven't notice any pants getting tighter. Though, I will admit, I really want a booty.

Last night got the chance to go to the Flames game. All I can say... BEST SEATS EVER. My right butt cheek was on the centre line. I sat so close to the action, I could hear Dion calling for the Puck, right before he scored.
Glorious I tells ya. Glorious. I don't know how Hoops' brother gets seats in that section. Or to whom he whored himself out to. But I'll do it too dammit. Well, up to allowing someone to poo on my chest of course. That's just too far.

Though truth be told the ambiance is totally different in the 100 section. When you sit in the nose bleeds, you get to listen to some funny stuff. Like hecklers. But sitting where we were last night.... nothing. Just business men talking about stocks and drinking caesars. Seriously.

And whenever there's a televised game, there's a section with hot women sitting close to the ice with beers in hand.... Where the hell were they last night?

When the crowd started the chant, "Theodore...Theodore...Theodore" I thought I'd be clever (and recalled my Chipmunks trivia knowledge that I knew would come in handy one day).
So I yelled out, "He sucks because he misses Alvin and Simon. Go home to Dave!!!"
...
...
...
FYI - I was completely Sober last night
...
...

After an eternity, I think some homo beside me started to laugh. But that was pretty much it. I thought I saw McLennon turn around and mouth, "WTF???"
Good times though. Good times.

FYI - The homo beside me that laughed? Hoops.

A can of Cola, and you're buzzing. That's what happens when you don't drink coffee or you don't consume sugar too often. Total buzz.
But thank the cosmos for livejournal I suppose.

MENTAL
I have to admit for the past several weeks I've entered this pontification phase. Constantly thinking, contemplating... just pondering and meditating. While it's certainly been great for my entire psyche and spirit, I find my body mass reducing and my fitness level slipping. Which for those of you who know me best, is something that doesn't sit too well with me. But thanks too all my time to think, I've mapped out my new training regiment. And I'll get my body back on track in no time.

But what has been going on my mind? Hmmm.... where to begin. I guess the best way to sum it is in one word. Death. Not to be morbid or anything. But ever since I attended my choral teacher's funeral I can't help but ponder what my own funeral would be like. Who would be there? Who would speak about me? What would people say? Just stuff like that. I know it's terrible to compare to others. But Mrs. Gunther's funeral was simple beautiful. A true tribute to the woman she was. I admit I cried. Watching that casket being escorted down the aisle was heartwrenching. But what really got to me was the music one song in particular. Listening to it brought a flood of memories. Especially with the knowledge that it was her favorite hymn. I was there when she was sight reading it before a choral session. I was there the first time she taught it to her students. And it got to me.

It got me to really think about my own mortality. What kind of legacy do I want to imprint on this world. How I've changed and grown, and yet strayed and alienated myself during the same period. I can see clearly the cause and effect that has occured. And the circle of drama that I find myself drowning in sometimes. And to see the bigger picture a bit clearer has been so much better. I've realized the internal mechanisms which need to be changed for me to achieve another plateau. The inner fears that must be conquered. The walls that must be broken down in order to evolve. And it's a struggle. It's a conscious struggle to do this. But I will succeed. I do not doubt it. And to be this better person. I have a model in Mrs Gunther to look at. She reminds me to be patient and loving. I find myself in scenarios and stop to think and say, "What would Mrs Gunther do?"

PHYSICAL
I sprained my ankle this morning during my jog. Lousy Ice. I just finished my hill sprints, which was actually quite dangerous. And as I turned to head home I slipped on an ice patch and got a minor sprain. Thankfully nothing is swollen, but I really feel like I've tweaked it enought to warrent a rest for the next 2 days. Good thing I'm on a break from soccer and dodgeball. But I sure as hell won't be missing skating.

My proud of the fact that skating has improved. Slightly. I think I'll be attempting the next phase soon enough. The back skate. That should be proven to be quite interesting. Though come to think of it, it shouldn't be too scary. Since you won't be landing on your butt at all. The worst that can happen is that you fall forwards. I'll be playing hockey soon enough. mwa ha ha....

I'm not too proud that my thumbs are so sore. I played WAY TOO MUCH video games in the past couple of weeks. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, NHL 07 and Madden 07 have become time vortexes. And last night was the culmination of it all. Normally, in social situations I refrain from video games. But there are always exceptions to this belief. And it occured last night. Guys night only. NHL 07 and MUA all warmed up. Please. I couldn't resist. Though I should apoligize to the women I ignored - Ruthless, Melissa and Lindsay. But it's been a LONG time since I played video games straight with anyone else. And frankly, it was a hilarious time. Seriously, we would have won that Stanley Cup if fatigue didn't set in. Though it was funny that our G-fense was playing half asleep and still making solid plays. Or the fact that Rox earned the nickname Mikka, by laying on the ice while playing D. Or that Till would ALWAYS open the scoring in EVERY GAME. It was really amusing. And we were so into it. But seriously. Are there exercises to help my ailing thumbs???

SPIRITUAL
I find myself standing at the spiritual crossroads. While I'm forever thankful for my catholic roots and practices to be foundation of my life, I have been pondering a change in religion. Or at least opening myself up to a new one. Hoops suggested to me to convert to Muslim with him. We'll see I suppose. There's a couple of books on hinduism, taoism and buddhism that I'd like to read first. But I should be repenting due to the fact that I'm attending a different church based on the fact that there are so many cute girls to oggle at. I'm going straight to Hell
